Patricia
Nalls
Founder/Executive Director
I
founded The Womens Collective after several years of living
in isolation about my own HIV diagnosis. I committed myself
to finding, supporting and organizing women with HIV/AIDS.
At first it was from my kitchen table, then from a community
space and now from our offices on U Street with several
integral programs for women living with and at risk for
HIV/AIDS and families. It has been a wonderful journey yet
also contains the memories and pain from losing many sisters
along the way to this disease. Each day I recommit myself
to this struggle and am energized by the work weve accomplished
together, the direction we hope to go together and most
importantly from the hope in the eyes of the women and families
we see in our office.

In
2003 we initiated a brief volunteer offering of seated
and full-body massage. It was so well received that we
have been able to expand. Today we are funded to provide
acupuncture in addition to massage services. Monthly health
care education topics are included to empower clients
with new strategies for self care. It is an honor and
my pleasure to be of service to the TWC community of staff
and client families.

Ann
Ragland
Volunteer
Coordinator
After
retiring, I had the choice of staying home, taking up a
second career or becoming a volunteer for an organization
that I believe in. I decided on the latter at The Womens
Collective. Though the position of volunteer coordinator
does not provide any financial compensation, working with
the phenomenal women here has left an indelible impression
on my life and the rewards of being here leave me far richer
and much more fulfilled than money ever could.

Development Director
I have long admired the strength
of the women I have met at The Womens Collective; staff,
women who seek our services and other women who are our
advocates and supporters. I have never worked in an organization
that so honors diversity and encourages triumph daily in
the face of adversity.
